Progression
Medal System
Every level has move and time thresholds for three medal tiers. Your best medal per level is saved automatically, so you can replay levels any time to improve. Medals are displayed on the level selection screen. Earning all gold medals also unlocks the Time Attack game mode.
How many levels ahead you unlock is based on your total medal count across all levels, not the individual medal tier:

Controls
Controls Reference
Scope uses every input the Playdate has to offer. Here's a quick reference for all controls:
Getting Started
How to Play
In Scope, you control a circular scope with balls orbiting around it. Your goal is to guide every ball to an exit zone on each level. Plan your moves carefully because each movement or rotation counts, and earning medals requires both speed and efficiency.
Move the Scope
Use the D-pad to move the scope up, down, left, or right within the level boundary. The scope can't pass through walls or obstacles, so plan your path carefully before pressing.
Rotate to Aim
Turn the Crank to rotate the scope and reposition your balls around the circle. You can also hold A + D-pad Left/Right for digital rotation. Adjust crank sensitivity in Settings.
Reach the Exit
Align all balls with the exit zone to complete the level. Some levels have multiple exits that need to be filled simultaneously. The fewer moves and less time you take, the better your medal!
Progress Through Orbits
Levels are organized into 4 Orbits of 9 levels each — Scope, Binary Loop, Trine, and Orbit Grid. Complete levels to unlock the next ones. Replay any level whenever you want to improve your medal. The level selection screen shows your best medals, moves, and times.
Strategy
Tips & Tricks
- Plan before moving. Each press of the D-pad counts as a move. Look at the exit position and work backwards to find the shortest path. If you know you could do better, reset the level and try again.
- Use the crank for fine adjustments. Rotation via crank is more precise than digital A+D-pad rotation, especially on tight levels.
- Reset freely with A+B. No penalty for resetting. If you realize a path won't work, reset and try a new approach. You can always come back to this level later in the Level Selection screen.
- Watch for multi-exit levels. Later levels have multiple exit zones. All balls must be in exits at the same time to complete the level.
- Obstacles are your guide. Use obstacles to align your position. They block movement but can help you line up with exit zones.
- Medals have two criteria. Both move count and time matter. A fast solve with too many moves, or a slow but efficient one, may miss the top medal.
- Lower crank sensitivity for precision. On levels that need exact rotation angles, switching to Low sensitivity gives more control.
