A Logic Puzzle Game for Playdate

Made by Alexandre Fontoura (xesf)

Playdate Playdate Puzzle Logic

Navigate a circular scope through increasingly complex levels by moving and rotating it with precision to guide your scope to the exit. It might seem easy at first, but tight spaces, obstacles, and precise crank control will challenge every move you make.

Medal System

Every level has move and time thresholds for three medal tiers. Your best medal per level is saved automatically, so you can replay levels any time to improve. Medals are displayed on the level selection screen. Earning all gold medals also unlocks the Time Attack game mode.

How many levels ahead you unlock is based on your total medal count across all levels, not the individual medal tier:

0 – 5 medals
Unlock 1 level ahead. Just getting started.
6 – 14 medals
Unlock 2 levels ahead. Momentum building.
15+ medals
Unlock 3 levels ahead. The more you earn, the faster you can skip ahead.
Crank Crank Crank
Gold
Complete the level within the tightest move count and time limit. Perfection rewarded. Counts toward your total medal tally.
Crank Crank
Silver
A solid clear! You're close to optimal. A bit of refinement will get you Gold. Counts toward your total medal tally.
Crank
Bronze
You solved the puzzle! Room for improvement on efficiency. Counts toward your total medal tally.

How to Play

In Scope, you control a circular scope with balls orbiting around it. Your goal is to guide every ball to an exit zone on each level. Plan your moves carefully because each movement or rotation counts, and earning medals requires both speed and efficiency.

Tutorial: Move the scope
1

Move the Scope

Use the D-pad to move the scope up, down, left, or right within the level boundary. The scope can't pass through walls or obstacles, so plan your path carefully before pressing.

Tutorial: Rotate the scope
2

Rotate to Aim

Turn the Crank to rotate the scope and reposition your balls around the circle. You can also hold A + D-pad Left/Right for digital rotation. Adjust crank sensitivity in Settings.

Gameplay: reach the exit
3

Reach the Exit

Align all balls with the exit zone to complete the level. Some levels have multiple exits that need to be filled simultaneously. The fewer moves and less time you take, the better your medal!

Progress Through Orbits

Levels are organized into 4 Orbits of 9 levels each — Scope, Binary Loop, Trine, and Orbit Grid. Complete levels to unlock the next ones. Replay any level whenever you want to improve your medal. The level selection screen shows your best medals, moves, and times.

Tips & Tricks

Statistics

Scope tracks a wide range of statistics per save slot, giving you a detailed picture of how you play. View them any time from the Main Menu.

Total Moves
Every D-pad press and crank rotation counts. Broken down into directional D-pad moves and left/right crank moves.
Levels Completed
Unique levels finished, plus total completions (which increases each time you replay a level).
Collisions
How many times your scope or balls have collided with walls and obstacles across all runs.
Total Play Time
Cumulative time spent in-game across all sessions for the slot, tracked in milliseconds.
Best Times & Moves
Per-level personal bests for both move count and completion time, used to calibrate medal thresholds.
Medal History
Best medal earned per level (Bronze, Silver, or Gold). Only ever upgrades — never downgrades on a replay.
